History

The club was started in the early 1970s by a group of enthusiasts from the British Telecommunications Research Labs at Martlesham Heath in Suffolk.

The club was first based at ‘The Hollies’ a Civil Service Sports Club and called the ‘Ipswich Area Civil Service Sports Association Aero Model Club’.

Following the privatisation of BT in 1984, it was no longer part of the Civil Service, and the club was renamed BTRMAC. The Hollies closed in 2001, and the club moved to the grounds of a local school, until settling at its current location.
